The Village of Sparta has completed an expansion of their water system to
provide water service to the new Sparta High School, the Sparta Hills
development, Old Orchard Brand juices, and future development. The project
consisted of six construction contracts, including 12,120 feet of 12"
watermain, a 250,000 gallon elevated water tank, a 1200 gpm booster pump
station, a new water loop around the new high school, and pressure
reducing valve connection to the existing system. A radio telemetry SCADA
system was designed for control of the water tank levels and the booster
pump station.
The project was necessary to provide water service to these new customers
in areas of the Village above USGS elevation 820. The project was a joint
effort by the Village, developers, Old Orchard Brands, and Sparta Area
Schools.
Moore & Bruggink developed the project concept, assisted in the
cooperation agreements, designed the four Village construction contracts,
and inspected all six construction contracts.
