Phase I of this trail in East Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Township is an extension of an existing path around a portion of Reeds Lake. This project was a result of a Moore & Bruggink Feasibility Study used to obtain an MDOT grant to provide 0.6 miles of bituminous path and concrete, helical pile-supported boardwalk. Meeting challenging wetlands conditions, permitting and right-of-way issues allowed an on-time completion for this long-awaited project that enhances the safety as well as the recreational opportunities for the community. The project cost was approximately $500,000 and was completed September 3, 2004.
