The new Hope Lodge in downtown Grand Rapids is the first LEED certified
Hope Lodge in the country. The 30,000 sq ft building features twenty
private guest suites, living rooms, laundry rooms, an exercise facility, a
library and an outdoor garden.
Hope Lodge is available to cancer patients receiving treatment in any
of a number of treatment facilities in the Grand Rapids area. In addition
to easing the financial burden to patients and their families by offering
free lodging, it will also offer a supportive and encouraging environment.
Moore & Bruggink was responsible for the site related sustainable
strategies including porous pavement to contain storm runoff on site,
diminish the impact to the City's storm system and recharge the
groundwater. The project required close coordination with the City for
utilities service connections and concurrent street improvements and
roundabout construction. |
