GRAND RAPIDS ART MUSEUM -- This new cultural gem for Grand Rapids is the first newly built LEED certified art museum in the world. The elegant new building features galleries for display of permanent and traveling collections, community gathering areas, an auditorium, café, museum store and offices. Moore & Bruggink was responsible for site utilities, grading and site related sustainable strategies in conjunction with a partner civil engineering firm, Audu Engineering. The strategies included on-site storm water reuse. This project, in the tight urban environment, required close coordination by Moore & Bruggink with the City for utility service connections and interface with concurrent City improvements to nearby streets and utilities.
