Forest Hills Fine Arts Center -- Designed to serve as a
regional icon, the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center is the focal point of
several communities that are represented in the Forest Hills School
District. The 1,212 seat facility operates as a self-supporting regional
theater, capable of accomplishing full scale professional productions as
well as school events.
This facility was designed to achieve a United States Green Building
Council LEED rating. It is believed this project is the first K-12 fine
arts center to seek LEED certification.
Several sustainable (green) strategies were utilized in this project,
including green islands in the parking lot to provide rain water
collection, filtration and shade. This project has won several awards and
includes several different civil engineering components including site
master planning, design and construction, public utility extension, county
road widening, soil erosion and control measures, and a complicated storm
water management system. |
