Grand Valley Estates Water System Improvements - This project resulted from the development of the new Forest Hills Eastern High School located at Knapp Street and Pettis Avenue in Ada Township. The new High School required a large water source for fire protection. The adjacent subdivision, Grand Valley Estates, had such a source in two wells, but was also lacking in fire protection. This project was a joint effort by the school district and the Township. The project included installing a 250,000 gallon elevated water tank and 3,070 ft of 12" and 8" diameter watermain on the school site, 1,350 ft of 12" watermain in Knapp Street to connect the two systems, upgrading the two existing wells from 350 gpm to 460 gpm, removing an existing hydropneumatic tank, installing a new radio telemetry level control system, and installing a new chlorine disinfection system. The project was completed in March of 2004.
